The Lord's Passover Meal
Exodus 12: 8
'That same night they are
to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made
without yeast.'
The Lord had instructed the Israelites in the time when they were to leave Egypt that they must take a lamb without blemish and use it's blood to paint it on their door posts, so that the angel of death would passover their homes, so that the plague of death to come to the first born son would not happen to them. The Lord had them to roast the lamb and eat it in haste with their girdles and loins tight and sandals ready, so that they could leave the land. They were to eat bitter herbs and to bake bread without yeast and eat it unleavened. They had to take it with them as they left the land of Egypt. This was to become a memorial for them of what God had done. He brought them out of the land of Egypt to keep His promise to Abraham to bring them into the Promised land.
Jesus is the perfect sinless Passover Lamb that died on the cross for our sins. The bitter herbs is symbolic of the suffering that Christ had to endure as He went to the cross. The bread represents His body, which was broken for us and the stripes for which He was beaten on behalf for us to take on sickness and diseases. He became bitter for us and bruised for our iniquities and transgressions. He was never broken, but instead He was pierced for us. His blood paid for our sins and He broke the power of sin and death on the cross for us to have eternal life. We are co-heirs with Christ Jesus and seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. We are no longer under the curse of sin and death, but have inherited eternal life and adoption as children of God for those who believe in Him and call upon His name. We are made rich while He was made poor. We have been adopted into a new family and our given the promises of God and blessings of Abraham through Jesus Christ. We are born into the most wealthiest family; the kingdom family of God, which is eternal. God has given us all things that we need for life and godliness and Jesus promised us life and life more abundantly.
As we reach out to Him, recognize we are sinners and that we need Him to receive salvation in order for us to inherit all the spiritual blessings then we will become co-heirs with Christ Jesus. It is not us that can save ourselves from sin. Our own righteousness accounts for nothing before God, but only His righteousness. We are to be reconciled back to God to be in spiritual fellowship with Him again. Sin leads to death. That Jesus had to die on the cross to pay for all the sins of the world in order for us to be free from eternal punishment and death, which is also separation from God forever. Seek Jesus and as Him to be Your personal Lord and Savior then You will have eternal life and inherit all the blessings of God and His covenant will be established in Your life. Know that God loves you. He is willing to send His son to die for you to bring you back to Him. It takes commitment and dedication to follow Him, but the rewards are exceedingly great. God doesn't promise us that He will take away our problems, but He does promise that He will help us through them and overcome them by His word. If you believe in Him, He will give you what you need. He will not leave you nor forsake you. God is not a man that he should lie. He is forever faithful and you have assurance that He will lead your path and protect you. God bless you richly with His truth.
